Across 95 matches Steenekamp brings consistent physicality on both sides of the ball, averaging over five tackles per game and contributing steadily through the carry to accumulate more than 500 metres with the ball in hand. His defensive numbers are particularly striking, with a single-game peak of 17 tackles underlining his capacity to shoulder a heavy workload when the situation demands. The volume of minutes logged across multiple competitions points to a prop who holds up his end of the bargain week after week.
