Across 23 appearances as a replacement, Porthen's tackle numbers stand out as the defining feature of his game, averaging 5.5 per match and reaching 13 in a single outing — a consistent defensive output for a player coming off the bench. His carry contributions are modest in volume, suggesting his primary impact when introduced is through contact defence rather than ball-in-hand. The breadth of competitions he has featured in, from the Champions Cup to international rugby, points to a player trusted in high-stakes environments.
