Van der Hever's match data across seven Currie Cup appearances points to a replacement whose primary value lies in defence, averaging four tackles per outing from limited minutes. His carrying numbers are modest, suggesting his role is narrowly defined rather than ball-carrying, yet his best single-game return of 11 tackles and 14 metres indicates he can lift his output when given extended time on the field. The consistency of his defensive contribution relative to his minutes makes tackling the clearest measure of his impact.
