Across 61 matches Mata has functioned as a high-volume ball-carrier and defensive workhorse, averaging over ten carries and seven tackles per game while accumulating nearly 2,000 metres with the ball in hand. His peak outputs — 22 carries and 19 tackles in a single match — indicate he can dominate both sides of the contest when conditions demand it. Ten tries from that workload reflects a player who earns metres through attrition rather than opportunism, making him a reliable platform-builder at the base of the scrum.
Viliame Mata is a professional rugby union number 8 registered with the Bristol Bears, the South Africa-based franchise. He forms part of the matchday squad and is tasked with linking the forwards and backs from the base of the scrum.
