Across seven Currie Cup appearances, Barnard has established himself as a consistent defensive presence, averaging close to six tackles per match with a single-game peak of eleven — figures that point to a lock who prioritises contest work and line-speed. His carry numbers are modest but steady, suggesting his value lies in set-piece physicality and defensive structure rather than ball-in-hand impact.
