Matsunaga contributes consistently with ball in hand, averaging close to 40 metres per match across six internationals — a steady output that reflects an active, involved full back rather than a peripheral one. His tackle numbers are equally telling, with a peak of nine in a single game suggesting he is not shy of defensive responsibility when pressure arrives. The combination of consistent carry volume and that defensive ceiling points to a player who operates across both phases of the game with genuine intent.
