Maqala is a consistent presence with the ball in hand, averaging close to six carries per match and 45 metres gained, with his best single-game output of 195 metres reflecting genuine line-breaking ability. His try return across 28 appearances speaks to an eye for the line, while a tackle average of over five per match — peaking at 11 in a single game — confirms he pulls his weight at both ends of the field. Across Champions Cup, Top 14 and Rugby World Cup rugby, he has shown the durability and work rate expected of a centre operating at the top level.
