Pienaar operates as a measured, efficient scrum half who contributes consistently with ball in hand, averaging close to 20 metres per match across his five URC appearances. His tackle numbers stand out for a nine, averaging nearly four per game and demonstrating a willingness to do defensive work beyond what is typically expected of the position. His best individual performance — 74 metres from just four carries — points to a player capable of making his limited touches count at key moments.
