Across 38 matches Mbonambi's tackle numbers stand out as the defining feature of his game, averaging over three per outing with a single-game peak of eleven — a workrate that underlines his importance as a defensive presence in tight exchanges. His carrying is typically purposeful rather than prolific, used selectively to shift momentum close to the breakdown. Five tries across the dataset also show he reads the game well enough to threaten at the line when opportunities arise.
Born on 7 January 1991, Mbongeni is 35 years old, stands 175cm (5′9″) tall and weighs 117kg.
