Across 41 appearances for the Lions in Challenge Cup and United Rugby Championship rugby, Pretorius has built a profile defined above all by his defensive work rate — averaging nearly eight tackles per match across close to 1,900 minutes of action. He contributes steadily with ball in hand too, and his single-game peaks of 17 tackles and 11 carries show he can step up his output significantly when the contest demands it.
