Across four Currie Cup appearances as a replacement, du Rand has built a clear identity as a tackle-first operator, averaging three tackles per match and peaking at seven in a single outing. His carry numbers are modest, reflecting a role focused on defensive solidity rather than ball-in-hand impact. When the game demands physicality and discipline at the breakdown, he consistently delivers on that front.
