Across 34 appearances McCarthy has built a consistent profile as a high-volume tackler, averaging over six tackles per outing with a single-game peak of 15, pointing to a player trusted to do significant defensive work off the bench. His carrying numbers — over 150 carries for more than 350 metres in total — show he contributes meaningfully with ball in hand for a replacement, regularly eating up hard metres rather than operating on the periphery. The combination of workload and consistency across three competitions reflects a dependable impact role.
