Across 58 matches McIlroy consistently contributes with ball in hand, averaging over 36 metres per game from around six carries — numbers that point to an industrious wing who creates momentum through sustained running rather than isolated bursts. His tackle count is notably high for a back, and his peak outputs of 17 carries and 160 metres in a single match underline the capacity to shoulder a much heavier workload when the game demands it.
