Across eight appearances as a replacement, Shanahan's carrying numbers are modest but purposeful, averaging under a carry per outing yet still generating positive metres when called upon. His tackle contribution is similarly contained, reflecting the limited minutes a finisher typically receives. The occasional game where he produces three carries and 16 metres suggests he can make a sharper mark when given the opportunity.
