Across 45 appearances for Connacht in the Challenge Cup and United Rugby Championship, Murphy has built a consistent profile as a scrum half who contributes meaningfully on both sides of the ball. His tackle numbers stand out for a nine, pointing to an active defensive role rather than a player who shelters behind the forward pack. When called upon to carry, he can impose himself — his best individual outings show he has the capacity to significantly lift those per-match averages.
