No private jet, no VIP lounge. After the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Racing Bulls team-mates Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad boarded an easyJet flight home like the rest of us. Lawson posted a selfie with his rookie team-mate on his Instagram Story, captioning it simply: "Shoutout easyJet." The internet did the rest.
Reddit lit up almost immediately. "Oh man, what are the odds of meeting two F1 drivers on a commercial flight?" wrote one user. Another added: "I love everything about this: that they're flying together and that they're flying a cheaper airline. As the season goes on, I'm loving this team more and more." Others went straight for the joke — "VCARB must be getting dangerously close to a cost cap breach" — with one user threatening Ryanair as the logical next step.
The pair had reason to feel good regardless of the aircraft. Lindblad started seventh and finished ninth, picking up two championship points. Lawson started ninth and came home 12th. Lindblad spoke to Sky Sports F1 after the race, describing his growing confidence weekend by weekend and crediting a strong working relationship with his engineers as the foundation of his progress.
Racing Bulls sit outside the top four in the championship standings, with the midfield battle tightening race by race. Next up is the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Check our F1 calendar for session times in SAST.
