Kaizer Chiefs will face Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC in the third edition of the Toyota Cup on Sunday, 26 July, with kick-off at 15:00 SAST at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg — and the SABC has confirmed the match will be broadcast live on SABC 1, free to air for every supporter across South Africa.
Final Pre-Season Test Before League Debut
The fixture is Amakhosi's final pre-season test before new head coach Fernando Da Cruz opens his Betway Premiership account against newcomers Kruger United on Saturday, 1 August, at 20:15 at Mbombela Stadium. Da Cruz is expected to field his strongest available side, making Sunday a genuine early look at what he is building at Naturena.
Chiefs are still hunting their first Toyota Cup win. In the inaugural 2024 edition at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Young Africans SC hammered them 4-0. A year later at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, they drew 0-0 with Asante Kotoko then lost 3-2 on penalties. The trophy has not come close to Amakhosi yet, and Da Cruz will know a third failure — even in a pre-season cup — is not the ideal start to a new era.
Chiefs Seek First Toyota Cup Victory
Scottland FC make the trip to South Africa with two faces very familiar to the Amakhosi faithful: Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona, both former Chiefs players, both lining up for the opposition this time. The Zimbabwean side arrive as reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions, having claimed the title just one season after earning promotion, and they are preparing for CAF Champions League football — so this is no throwaway trip for them either.
