AmaZulu FC have pulled the wraps off their new home and away jerseys for the 2026/27 PSL campaign, and both kits carry genuine cultural weight. The home shirt draws from ubuhlalu — traditional Zulu beadwork — rendered in deep green, with every dot and line a deliberate nod to heritage. The away kit takes its cue from the KwaZulu-Natal landscape itself, hand-illustrated and built to travel.
Cultural Design Rooted in Zulu Identity
Usuthu revealed the strips on Friday evening while in a pre-season training camp in Johannesburg. It is a club that finished fourth last season and is clearly approaching 2026/27 with serious intent. Coach Arthur Zwane has already made seven signings ahead of the new campaign — Omega Mdaka, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Mncedi Vandala, Keenan Phillips, Gape Moralo, Faveur Kouassi and Moses Shumah have all come through the door. That is a substantial rebuild, not a tinkering exercise.
Kit supplier Primosport produced both strips, and the design language is coherent — rooted in Zulu identity rather than chasing generic European aesthetics. For a club based in eThekwini, that matters. The beadwork concept on the home shirt in particular gives Usuthu a visual identity other football clubs in this country would envy.
With the squad taking shape and the new kits now public, attention turns to when Zwane's revamped side gets its first competitive run-out ahead of the new season.
