Affies made the trip to Pietermaritzburg and left with a 40-12 demolition of Maritzburg College, the Wit Bulle never truly threatened in front of their home crowd. It was a controlled performance from the visitors — methodical in the first half, ruthless after the break.

Affies Dominate Maritzburg College Away

Loosehead prop Francois de Beer crossed just before the interval to give Affies a 12-5 lead, and captain Martin van Niekerk drove over early in the second half to effectively end the contest. The visitors did not look back from there, running in six tries in total to seal a comprehensive win that sends a clear message in the schoolboy rugby landscape.

In Cape Town, Stellenberg made it nine consecutive unbeaten home matches — but they had to work for it. Outeniqua pushed them all the way at Bellville, with lock Franco Pienaar rolling over from a maul to give the visitors a 21-19 lead and threaten one of the upsets of the season. Flyhalf Ethan van Biljon had been influential throughout, contributing 11 points and making several crucial defensive interventions, but it was inside centre Daniel Mongie who settled it — a powerful line break that put Stellenberg back in front and secured a 26-21 win. Nine home matches unbeaten is a serious record at any level.

Elsewhere in the Western Cape, Paul Roos denied SACS a famous win with a score in the final play, flyhalf Jake Dave contributing 24 of their 38 points in a 38-34 thriller. Wynberg beat Boland Landbou 42-26 on the Hawthornden Field, Paarl Boys hammered Durbanville 56-7, Paarl Gim outplayed Rondebosch 52-24 and Drostdy defeated Oakdale 31-24 in Worcester.

In KwaZulu-Natal, Northwood produced the result of the weekend in terms of sheer firepower, hammering Glenwood 82-23. DHS and Jeppe could not be separated, finishing 21-21.

The Eastern Cape delivered some eye-catching numbers. Grey High came from behind to edge Framesby 35-28, while Kingswood thrashed Stirling 70-7, Graeme pummelled Pearson 61-24 and Dale hammered Ooskus Gimnasium 55-19.

Eastern Cape and Central Region Routs

In the Central Region, Grey College showed London school Harrow exactly what South African schoolboy rugby looks like, winning 95-0. Diamantveld were equally dominant against Goudveld, 73-0, and Hoërskool Trio beat Sentraal 40-26.

In the Gauteng Noodvaal Cup, Monument boosted their playoff chances with a 68-42 win over Middelburg. Waterkloof beat EG Jansen 34-24 and Menlopark edged Noordheuwel 45-42 in a tight one.

The next round of fixtures will reveal whether Stellenberg can extend that home record and whether Affies can keep this momentum rolling deep into the season.
