In the world of rugby, every player’s journey is unique, marked by triumphs, setbacks, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. One such inspiring story belongs to Renzo Du Plessis, a talented flanker making waves in the Currie Cup with the Lions. I sat down with Renzo to talk about his journey from a small town in Limpopo to the rugby fields of Johannesburg, his faith-driven resilience, and his ambitions on and off the pitch.
Starting from the Bottom
Renzo’s rugby journey is one of persistence and unwavering faith. “I come from Tzaneen, a small town in Limpopo. I went to Ben Foster High School, and after high school, Covid hit. I got a contract at the Sharks, but after a year and a half, I got an offer from the Lions and made the move to Johannesburg,” Renzo shared, reflecting on his early days in the sport. “I got married at the beginning of this year, which was a very exciting milestone in my life.”
